Embroidering Futures

Embroidering Futures is a book that emerged from a series of meetings held in Urmeira between March and April 2025. Throughout these sessions, residents were invited to paint and embroider photographs of the neighbourhood, printed in black and white onto fabric, transforming images of the present into gestures of affection and visions of the future.

Over the course of mornings and afternoons spent together, the project took shape through sharing, listening and collective creation, where conversations, smiles and learning intertwined stitch by stitch.

This initiative was developed as part of the Odivelas Local Integrated Operation, under the Communities in Action Programme, which is supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
