The aim of this workshop is to reflect on and experiment with the relationship between urban tilework and embroidery, their convergences and divergences. Starting from the observation of the tile as an architectural, historical and graphic element, embroidery on paper emerges as a way of traversing, piercing, sewing, and reinterpreting.
Objetivos
Investigate the dialogue between urban tilework and paper embroidery as a contemporary artistic language.
Experience manual work as a practice of slowing down, relaxing, and being present.
Exercise a sensitive gaze towards the urban environment, transforming everyday references into artistic creation.
Experience the creative process as a space for exchange, listening, and collective learning.
Script
Expository talk (presentation of works embroidered on paper and tiles) + Practical experimentation
Materials needed
2 to 3 sheets of Canson Mix Media 200g paper or similar with a weight between 200g and 300g in A4 size
Embroidery needle
Scissors
Skein of yarn or floss
Pencil and eraser
Masking tape or painter’s tape (with low adhesion)
EVA foam board, cutting mat or cardstock in A4 size
Printed pattern for exercises (will be sent by email after registration)
