Coexistence Agreement

Coexistence Agreement is an illustrated book for adults—especially parents—that addresses the emotional impacts of divorce on childhood. Written by Diana Poppe and illustrated by Luisa Simão, the book invites attentive observation, care, and emotional responsibility.

My role in this project was to weave together text, illustration, and different voices through the graphic design—an intense process involving a lot of exchange and listening.

Pedro, the boy on the cover, is at the heart of this story. His parents have just divorced, and amidst agreements and disagreements, feelings of loneliness, abandonment, and pain also emerge—often invisible to adults. The book questions: are we able to truly see our children during the divorce process? Do we realize the weight of our words?
